How to apply Valpaint microcement e-volution PLUS - 3 techniques step by step
1. Conditions and requirements before you start
- Application temperature: +10-30°C for most products, +15-30°C for Primer AZ, Gel EP40, Otturapori and Stucco SB30
- Air humidity: max 65% - do not apply on rainy or foggy days
- Ventilation and drying: when drying, use a dehumidifier sized to the room volume
- Product temperatures: in cold months warm Primer AZ, CT10, Gel EP40 and CT50 with a heat gun to 15-20°C before catalysis
- Tiles: must be stable and firmly bonded to the substrate - loose tiles are a disqualifier
- Concrete/screed: pull-off strength >1.5 MPa (ASTM D4541), compressive strength >25 N/mm² (EN 13892-2)
- Plasterboard: only top quality, new or like-new
- Expansion joints: leave them free - do not fill. If clogged - open them before application
- Watch the color batches: the shade can vary between batches by 15-20%. For large areas, blend the contents with the new batch in a large container before continuing

3. Substrate preparation
COMMON TO ALL THREE TECHNIQUES
A. Ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware, terracotta
Grind the glaze with a diamond disc to roughen the surface. Vacuum thoroughly with an industrial vacuum - no dust, no debris.
Spray onto the whole surface. Immediately wipe with a damp cloth soaked in the same product - wet on wet - to even it out and boost penetration. Don't let it dry before wiping.
Catalyze: 100 g Primer AZ : 54 g CT10. Mix thoroughly with a spatula. Apply with the PV95 roller, undiluted. While the Primer is still wet - lay the PV127 fiberglass mesh, edges butting without overlap. Run a clean PV95 roller (no product) over the mesh so it beds into the surface. After 24h, fill the joints and defects with Stucco SB30.
Catalyze with CT90. Mix with a spatula, drawing the material from the sides toward the center. Fill all the joints between tiles and any defects. Leave the surface smooth and even - no lumps or unevenness, to avoid sanding. After 24h, sand with 180-220 paper if needed.
B. Concrete, cement screed
Catalyze: 100 g Primer AZ : 54 g CT10 + dilute with 30% Promotore ADP (100 g ADP per 0.35 kg kit / 270 g per 0.9 kg kit / 800 g per 2.7 kg kit). Apply with the PV95 roller.
After 24h apply a second coat of Primer AZ + CT10, undiluted. After another 24h, fill any defects with Stucco SB30. Wait 24h before Meteore 12.
C. Plasterboard
First coat diluted 30% with ADP, using the PV95 roller. While wet - lay the PV127 fiberglass mesh over the whole surface. Run a clean roller over it. After 24h - second coat of clean Primer AZ. After 24h - Stucco SB30 over defects and board joints. After 24h - Meteore 12.
D. Sigillante SG15 - sealing (all substrates, wet zones)
Before Meteore 12, apply Sigillante SG15 with a spatula in floor-wall corners, at drains and gratings, and around the shower enclosure. It forms a flexible starting bead resistant to substrate movement. Minimum thickness 1 mm. Surface drying 50 min - paintable after 2h. After the whole cycle: seal with transparent silicone around taps, valves and the trap.
Effetto Marmorizzato - Veined marble effect
Tint Meteore 12 with Colori' pigments in the proportions from the data sheet (AA/A/B depending on the container size). Apply with the PV43 trowel a leveling coat sufficient to even out and smooth the substrate. After 20-30 min, lightly mist water with the PV106 spray bottle over the Meteore 12 application marks - it makes smoothing with the trowel easier. After 12h, sand with 220 paper for smoothness and uniformity.
After 8-10h apply Meteore 12 again with the PV43 trowel over the whole surface. While the product is still wet - with the PV105 brush, draw irregular, flowing veins from top to bottom and back. After 20-30 min, mist water with the PV106 spray bottle along the drawn veins - it makes smoothing easier. Smooth with the PV43 trowel. After 12h, sand with 220.
Dilute Sabulador Soft with 20-30% water. Apply with a compact sponge as a third-color layer covering the first and second coats. Wait 4h. Optionally: apply further Sabulador Soft layers in other colors only in the grooves and channels - not on the smooth areas. Before each further layer, rinse the sponge with water and wring it out. Wait until the Sabulador is completely dry before applying Gel EP40.
Catalyze with CT50. Mix for max 3 minutes - material from the sides toward the center. Pot-life 20-25 min at 20°C - it shortens with temperature. In cold months warm the can with a heat gun to 15-20°C. Apply two coats with the PV43 trowel, smoothing the resin upwards and along the Meteore 12 veins - the gel works into the grooves, leaving a thin layer on the smooth areas.
Apply the second coat only when the first is "touch dry" - no fingerprints when pressed. Don't wait more than 24h. Within 18-24h of the second coat, make any touch-ups with the trowel without leaving resin on the smooth areas. Wait 18-24h for the Gel EP40 to harden before Top Coat.
Catalyze with CT80 - the catalyst is moisture-sensitive, close the can after use. Use within 1h of mixing. Sand the Gel EP40 with 400/500 paper only where there are imperfections. Apply two coats with the PV109/110 sponge roller.
Effetto Liscio - Smooth decorative concrete
Tint with the Valclone system. Apply with the PV43 trowel a leveling coat sufficient to even out the substrate. Mist with PV106 and smooth. After 12h, sand with 220.
After 8-10h apply Meteore 12 with the PV43 trowel, finishing immediately with trowel strokes in all directions without going back over the same spot. Mist with PV106 for maximum smoothness and compactness. After 12h, sand with 220 for smoothness and uniformity.
Catalyze with CT45. Pot-life: depends on temperature - check the viscosity and the can temperature. In cold months warm to 15-20°C. Apply a thin coat over the whole surface with the PV95 roller. Wait 18-24h. Sand with 400/500 paper. Only then Top Coat.
Catalyze with CT80. Use within 1h. Apply two coats with the PV31 mohair roller (optionally three for maximum resistance). 6-8h between coats. Do not exceed 24h between coats - the surface would need sanding.
Altri Effetti Decorativi - Decorative effects under resin
Apply with the PV43 trowel a leveling coat sufficient to even out the substrate. Mist with PV106, smooth with the trowel. After 12h, sand with 220.
After 8-10h apply Meteore 12 with the PV43 trowel, finishing with strokes in all directions without going back over. Mist with PV106. After 12h, sand with 220.
12h after Meteore 12, apply the chosen decorative product according to its TDS sheet and application instructions. Each product needs its own technique, tools and, where required, its own primer. Once the decorative layer is fully dry - apply Gel EP40.
Exactly as in Technique 1, steps 4 and 5. Catalyze with CT50, pot-life 20-25 min. Two coats with the PV43 trowel. 12h between coats (touch dry). Touch-ups within 18-24h. Wait 18-24h to Top Coat.
Exactly as in Technique 1, step 6. Sand 400/500 where there are imperfections. PV109/110 sponge roller. Two coats, 6-8h apart.

9. Calculator - estimate material and approximate cost
Knowing the coverage figures from the table above, the fastest way to work out the material for a specific area is the calculator. Enter the surface area and choose the technique - the tool will select the system products, convert the quantities into packages and give an approximate cost. You can also leave your contact details and receive a ready quote for materials and labor.
Calculate microcement for your area in 3 steps
Pick the effect, add your surfaces (you can mix substrates — e.g. tiles on the floor and plaster on the wall), and we'll match the right systems and prepare a ready shopping list.
Surfaces to cover
For each surface pick the substrate and enter the area. You can rename it — click the name field (e.g. "Bathroom"); it will appear in the shopping list. Area = length × width (wall: width × height minus openings).
Finish and buffer
Gloss emphasises depth and colour; matt gives a more raw, concrete look. Both lacquers are equally resistant to water and abrasion.
Area measurements are rarely perfect, and during application some material stays on tools, edges and offcuts. If you'd rather be sure you won't run out mid-job — add a buffer. For most projects we recommend 10%.
FAQ for installers
How many coats of Meteore 12 are applied in the e-volution PLUS system?
Always two: a leveling coat (2-2.5 m²/L) and a decorative coat (1-1.5 m²/L). At least 8 hours between them at 20°C. After each coat, sand with 220 paper after 12 hours.
How is Sabulador Soft applied in the marble technique?
Dilute with 20-30% water. Apply with a compact sponge as a layer covering the whole surface. Wait 4h. Further layers in other colors - only in the grooves, not on the smooth areas. Rinse and wring the sponge before each layer. Wait for full drying before Gel EP40.
How do you use Gel EP40 + CT50 without wasting material?
Pot-life 20-25 min - mix for max 3 minutes, apply immediately. Check the viscosity and can temperature while working. If the mix thickens or the can heats up - don't apply. Prepare smaller batches at higher temperatures. In cold months warm the can with a heat gun to 15-20°C before catalysis.
How does application on tiles differ from concrete?
On tiles: Promotore ADP by spray → Primer AZ 1 coat undiluted + PV127 mesh → Stucco SB30. On concrete: Primer AZ diluted 30% with ADP → 24h → clean Primer AZ → 24h → Stucco SB30. On plasterboard: like concrete + PV127 mesh into the wet first Primer AZ.
When do you use Otturapori OTB instead of Gel EP40?
Use Otturapori OTB + CT45 only in technique 2 (Effetto Liscio - smooth concrete) before Top Coat, without Gel EP40 resin. Techniques 1 and 3 use Gel EP40 + Top Coat - Otturapori does not appear in them.
How soon after application can the surface be used?
Walk on the floor: 72h after Top Coat (carefully, with protectors under furniture). Furniture and fittings: after 7 days at 20°C. Full static strength of the system: 28 days. Gel EP40 - full cure: 48 days. For the first 7 days use felt pads under everything in contact with the floor.
