Description

Meteore 14 Medio Valpaint is a tinted microcement compound and part of the I-Beton Plus system, with which you smooth a floor or a wall.  With 1 l you cover 2-2.4 m² with the first and 2.4-2.6 m² with the second coat, with 4 l 8-9.6 and 9.6-10.4 m², with 12 l 24-28.8 and 28.8-31.2 m². You choose the size on this page - 1 L is a pack you can treat as a sample for testing the application and checking the colour in real life.

You pick the colour from the palette on the page, and before you decide you can borrow the colour chart; we tint the compound to RAL, NCS or a colour you choose from the manufacturer's chart. The calculator converts your area into litres, and the shop team will work out the complete set of materials for the whole system for you - all you need to do is give us the area and the substrate you want to put the microcement on.

What you will see in the video (9:49)

Official Valpaint video showing step by step the application of the I-Beton microcement system on a tiled floor and on a wall: primer, Meteore 14 Grosso on mesh, Meteore 14 Medio and Top Coat varnish. I-Beton can be laid on old tiles and a concrete floor, and on a wall of tiles, concrete and gypsum plaster. System comparison: Valpaint microcement: I-Beton Plus or E-Volution Plus - system comparison.

The I-Beton Plus system consists of several products and is done in four steps. We will gladly prepare a quote for you - give us the area of your floors and/or walls and the type of substrate the microcement will be laid on, and the shop team will work out the complete set of materials.

The calculator on this page converts Meteore 14 Medio alone into 1, 4 or 12 l; just remember that coverage drops on reinforcing mesh. Treat the colour chart on screen as a guide, not literally - monitor settings change the shade.

Before you order Meteore 14 microcement, you can borrow the I-Beton Plus colour chart. I also recommend the 1 l pack as a sample: you will see for yourself how pleasant Valpaint microcement is to apply, and you will see the colour in real life, in your own light. A litre is enough for about 1 m² with two coats.

What is Meteore 14 Medio?

Meteore 14 Medio is a very durable, water-based decorative compound for interiors, part of the Valpaint I-Beton Plus microcement system - laid on floors and walls as a smoothing layer and as a decorative layer.

It works on rough concrete walls, concrete floors and ceramic tiles, both on the wall and on the floor. It is usually laid over one coat of the coarser Meteore 14 Grosso to smooth its strong but very raw texture.

Two coats of Medio are recommended - they give a smoother surface without sanding, ready to be protected with epoxy Top Coat, preferably also in two coats, because the protective layer is then more durable.

Feature What it means for you
Finishing coverage When the first coat is Meteore 14 Grosso, with 1 l of Medio you cover 2-2.4 m² with the first and 2.4-2.6 m² with the second coat; 4 l is 8-9.6 and 9.6-10.4 m² respectively, 12 l - 24-28.8 and 28.8-31.2 m². The second coat goes a little further because it is applied over a smooth surface.
Coverage on reinforcing mesh If Medio works as the smoothing layer directly on mesh, count on 1.2-1.5 m² per litre, 4.8-6 m² from 4 l and 14.4-18 m² from 12 l - part of the compound goes into filling the mesh.
Floor and wall with one product Microcement is a compound, not a plaster. With the same Medio, in the same colour, you finish the floor and the walls, so a bathroom or shower comes out uniform, with no grout lines or joints.
Drying times The surface is dry after 6 hours, you apply the next coat after 8-12 hours, and the compound fully cures in 18-24 days. The whole I-Beton system hardens after 7 days and after 28 days reaches full resistance to static loads.
No chiselling off old tiles Thanks to its filling and adhesive properties the compound bonds to concrete and ceramic tiles, so a bathroom renovation goes without chiselling and hauling away rubble.
Colour to match the design We tint to the I-Beton Plus palette, and also to RAL and NCS - you match the microcement to the floor, the furniture or the colour from the architect's design.

Where does Meteore 14 Medio work best?

  • Microcement floors - a uniform, smooth floor with no grout lines, in a colour matched to the interior.
  • Bathrooms, showers and kitchens - the same layers on the floor and walls give an interior with no joints, easy to maintain.
  • Walls of tiles, concrete and gypsum plaster - the I-Beton system is laid on each of these substrates, as you can clearly see in the video above.
  • Renovations without chiselling - old tiles and raw concrete stay underneath, and on top you get a smooth, durable surface.

You will find complete Valpaint microcement systems in the decorative wall effects category.

You will find the technical data sheet and system instructions in the downloads at the bottom of the page.

You will find Meteore 14 Grosso, primer, mesh, Top Coat varnish and the colour chart to borrow in Related Products below - and if you prefer us to put the system together for you, just give us the area.

Frequently asked questions

How much Meteore 14 Medio do I need for my floor?

With two finishing coats over Meteore 14 Grosso, a litre of Medio is enough for about 1 m², so for a bathroom with a 5 m² floor and 15 m² of walls you need roughly 20 l. If Medio is to work directly on mesh, consumption is higher. The easiest way is to give us the area and the type of substrate - we will work out the whole system, not just Medio.

How long does laying microcement take?

Each coat is surface-dry after 6 hours, and you apply the next one after 8-12 hours, so with the four steps of the system you are realistically looking at a few days of work with breaks for drying. Full curing of the compound takes 18-24 days; the system hardens after 7 days and reaches full load resistance after 28 days.

Can I lay I-Beton myself?

The system consists of four steps: primer, Meteore 14 Grosso on mesh, two coats of Meteore 14 Medio and Top Coat varnish. The video above shows each of them on a tiled floor and on a wall. If you have never worked with microcement, start with a 1 l sample on a small section - you will see how the compound spreads before you order material for the whole room.

Can I lay Meteore 14 Medio over old tiles in a bathroom?

Yes, and that is one of the most common reasons customers choose I-Beton. The compound has filling and adhesive properties, so it bonds to ceramic tiles and concrete on the floor and on the wall. The product is intended for interiors.

How do I choose a colour and what if I get it wrong?

The I-Beton Plus palette is on this page, but the shade on screen depends on your monitor, so before you decide it is worth borrowing the colour chart or ordering a litre as a sample. We also tint to RAL and NCS. The compound is prepared to your order, so we do not take tinted colours back - the sample and the chart are there so that there are no surprises.

Why are two coats of Medio recommended?

Because after two coats the surface is smoother and does not need sanding before varnishing, and the colour is full and even. The second coat goes over a smooth surface, so it goes further than the first.

What is the difference between Meteore 14 Medio and Meteore 14 Grosso?

Grosso has a coarser grain and builds a strong, raw base on mesh. Medio is finer - it smooths that base and carries the colour in two finishing coats. It can also work directly on mesh as the smoothing layer, but then you use more of it.

Important: we tint the compound to individual order, so colours prepared to order are non-returnable. The colour chart to borrow and the 1 l sample are there so that you see the colour in real life before you order material for the whole room.
