Muro Craquele Decoverni – Decorative Coating for an Aged, Cracked Wall Effect

Muro Craquele is a unique decorative system that allows you to create an original effect of an old, cracked surface. Its distinctive texture, resembling cracked plaster, an aged wall or a decorative surface with a history, gives interiors a unique character and depth.

The secret behind this effect lies in the use of a special crackle gel which, when combined with the decorative coating, triggers a controlled cracking process. This creates an irregular, three-dimensional texture whose final appearance can be further enhanced by choosing the right colours.

The system allows you to create a variety of individual colour combinations by mixing different shades of the base coat and finishing layer. You can achieve either a subtle, aged appearance or a bold, contrasting decoration that catches the eye.

The distinctive cracks create the following effects:

• an old, aged and cracked wall,
• an irregular decorative texture with a clearly defined crack pattern,
• a surface inspired by raw industrial interiors,
• rustic plaster with a unique and distinctive character.

This decorative finish blends perfectly with loft, industrial, rustic, vintage and eclectic interiors. It can be used to create an impressive feature wall in a living room, bedroom, hallway, restaurant, hotel or commercial space.

The final appearance depends on the selected colours, application technique and the way the coating is textured.

Application Instructions:

• 1. Surface Preparation

The surface must be properly prepared, clean, dry, stable and free from loose particles. First, apply a deep-penetrating primer using a roller or brush. After approximately 4–6 hours, you can proceed to the next stage.

• 2. Applying the Base Coat

Apply a white or appropriately tinted Dk Quarzo base coat to the primed surface. Leave it to dry for approximately 6–8 hours.

• 3. Applying the Crackle Gel

Once the base coat is completely dry, apply the special CeboBreak gel. Spread the product using a brush, making short crosswise strokes. Leave to dry completely for approximately 12–24 hours.

• 4. Applying the MURO CRAQUELE Decorative Coating

Once the gel has dried, proceed with applying the MURO CRAQUELE decorative coating. A metal trowel is recommended. Apply a layer approximately 1–2 mm thick.

Spread the coating evenly, as the application thickness affects the regularity and appearance of the cracks. When working on larger surfaces, connect successive sections using the wet-on-wet technique.

At this stage, you can also texture the surface to achieve your desired appearance. It is important to maintain a consistent pattern across the entire decorated surface.

• 5. Formation of the Crackle Effect

As a result of the reaction between the coating and CeboBreak gel, the cracking process begins approximately 10–20 minutes after application. The exact time depends on the thickness of the applied layer, temperature and air humidity.

The decorative finish requires at least 12 hours to dry completely. Once dry, the surface can be gently sanded with sandpaper.

• 6. Finishing with Decowax Wax

The final appearance of the decoration is achieved by applying tinted Decowax wax diluted with water at a ratio of 1:4.

Apply the wax using a sponge, working from the bottom upwards and gently wiping the surface. Remove any excess product with a sponge dampened with water. Leave to dry.

Important Application Tips

• Before starting work, prepare the substrate properly and observe the recommended drying times for each layer.
• Apply MURO CRAQUELE evenly to achieve a consistent crackle effect.
• When decorating larger surfaces, the wet-on-wet application technique is recommended.
• The manufacturer recommends that one person applies the coating to a given surface to ensure a uniform pattern.
• Remove masking tape while the coating is still wet.
• The final result may vary depending on the product batch, application technique and environmental conditions during application.
