You are buying the paint only, tinted to a colour from the manufacturer's chart. The effect also needs Primer 400 - buy it separately or straight away in the set, and choose the tin size with the calculator on this page.

The video shows three ways of applying Valrenna paint: the suede leather effect with criss-cross brush strokes smoothed with a clean brush, the linen effect with a vertical and a horizontal coat brushed through, and the Shantung effect with stripes in one direction.
When choosing the tin size, remember that the stated coverage is for two coats - exactly what Valrenna needs. What is Valrenna textured paint?
Valrenna Extra Soft textured paint by Valpaint is a water-based decorative interior paint whose dried finish looks and feels like soft fabric - suede, goatskin, linen or corduroy. The effect comes from specially selected resins and pigments and from the application technique, not from a thick coat.
Valrenna needs Primer 400 tinted to its colour and is applied in at least two coats. With proper preparation it can go onto cement, plaster, stucco, plasterboard, wood and iron.

Painting with Valrenna in 4 steps
- Clean the wall of dust, grease and dirt and prepare it as you would for a decorative topcoat - it must be dry.
- Paint the wall with tinted Primer 400 using a 5-10 mm nap roller in one or two coats and wait 24 hours.
- Spread the first coat of Valrenna with your chosen technique: criss-cross brush strokes for suede, or a roller with brushing through for linen and Shantung.
- After 5-6 hours add the second coat the same way - for linen, at right angles to the first.
Where suede effect paint works best
- living rooms, hallways and offices in a modern style,
- loft and minimalist interiors - in beige, Valrenna resembles matt microcement,
- schemes that pair the wall with wood, metal, architectural concrete and glass,
- substrates other than plaster, such as wood, iron or plasterboard - after preparation.

Frequently asked questions about Valrenna paint
Which size of Valrenna paint should I choose for my area?
In two coats one litre of Valrenna covers 7-8 m², so a 0.75 l tin is enough for 5-6 m², 2.5 l for 17-20 m² and 5 l for 35-40 m² of wall. If your area falls between these figures, measure it with the calculator on this page and choose tins with a small margin for touch-ups.
Does Valrenna paint need a primer?
Yes - Valrenna goes over Primer 400 tinted to a shade close to the paint colour. It creates a coloured background that shows through the Valrenna coats and adds depth to the effect; without a tinted primer the effect is flatter. You can buy Primer 400 separately or together with the paint in the Valrenna set.
When can I apply the next coat of Valrenna?
Paint goes onto Primer 400 only after the primer has dried for 24 hours. Valrenna itself is touch dry after 30-45 minutes, the next coat goes on after 5-6 hours, and the finish reaches full hardness after a day. Two coats is the minimum.
Can I apply Valrenna without decorating experience?
Yes, it is applied with a brush and a roller, and each of the three techniques is shown in the video above - it is worth watching before you start. One practical tip: do not swap painters halfway through a wall, as everyone uses different brush pressure and rhythm and the difference will show.
Which brush and roller should I use for Valrenna paint?
Use a paint roller with a 5-10 mm nap for the primer. For the suede effect, apply Valrenna with a wallpaper brush in short criss-cross strokes and smooth it with a clean brush after a few minutes. For linen and Shantung, spread the paint with a roller and brush it through with a stiff-bristle brush - vertically, horizontally or both.
Can I get a smooth, limewash-style wall with Valrenna?
Yes, if you choose the suede technique - it gives a matt, even surface with no visible stripes. In beige, such a wall is also reminiscent of matt microcement.
Where is Valrenna paint not a good choice?
Valrenna is not a facade paint and not for wet rooms - it is intended for dry interiors only. The finish can only be cleaned gently, so for walls that need frequent scrubbing choose a different finish.
Can I return Valrenna paint if I do not like the colour?
We tint Valrenna to the shade chosen with your order, so it cannot be returned. To avoid disappointment, look at real samples in the Valrenna sample catalogue first - you buy it, and if it is undamaged you can return it within 30 days.
Can I buy Valrenna 2 from you?
Our standard range includes Valrenna Extra Soft only, as it gives a richer effect and is more resistant and durable. Valrenna 2 is a budget version - we do not keep it in stock, but we can order it in for a larger order.
