What is Guardi velvet effect paint?
Guardi velvet effect paint is a decorative paint whose texture reflects light and creates a velvet-like sense of depth and three-dimensionality on the wall and gives a uniform, smooth surface; it is applied over a base coat tinted to the same colour. Apply it with a trowel, sponge or roller — depending on the effect you want — in 1–2 coats. It dries in about 3–12 hours, depending on the method and coat thickness. It is an environmentally friendly product intended for interiors where luxury should show: living rooms, bedrooms and studies.

| Feature | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Coverage per 1 l | Stainless Venetian trowel 6–15 m², brush or roller 10–20 m², sponge 15–25 m² — one litre is enough for a whole living-room wall. |
| Base coat in colour | Under the velvet we recommend a base coat tinted to the same colour — the colour comes out uniform, with no other shade showing through; you will find it in Related Products. |
| No experience needed | The paint spreads evenly and gives a smooth, uniform surface even without years of painting practice. |
| Drying time | About 3–12 h depending on the method and coat thickness — a room makeover fits into one day or a weekend. |
| Coats | 1–2 coats are enough for the full effect. |
| Eco-friendly | An environmentally friendly product — for bedrooms and rooms where you spend the most time. |

Frequently asked questions
How many m² does a litre of velvet effect paint cover?
With 1 l of paint you cover 6–15 m² with a Venetian trowel, 10–20 m² with a brush or roller and 15–25 m² with a sponge, in 1–2 coats. The calculator on this page gives the exact number of tins.
How long does velvet effect paint take to dry?
About 3–12 hours, depending on the application method and coat thickness — a thin coat applied with a sponge dries faster than a thick one applied with a trowel.
Can I do a velvet wall myself?
Yes — the paint spreads evenly and lets you achieve a uniform, smooth surface even without years of painting experience. Sponge or roller application is the easiest.
Which rooms suit the velvet effect?
Interiors where you want to emphasise luxury and elegance: living rooms, bedrooms and studies. The product is environmentally friendly.
How do I choose a colour and can I return the paint?
Pick a colour from the chart and we machine-tint the paint to your order — that is why tinted colours are non-returnable. Colour chart photos are for reference and may differ slightly from reality due to monitor or graphics card settings.
Do I need a base coat in the same colour?
Yes — a base coat tinted to the velvet colour gives a uniform background, so the effect comes out even and deep with no other shade showing through. The ready paint-and-base-coat set is in Related Products.
Trowel, sponge or roller — what should I use?
Depending on the effect you want: a stainless Venetian trowel gives 6–15 m² per litre, a roller 10–20 m², a sponge is the most efficient at 15–25 m². The tool changes the coverage, so enter it in the calculator.
Important: we machine-tint the paint to individual order — colours prepared to order are non-returnable. Before buying, work out the quantity with the calculator on this page and decide which tool you will paint with.
