Klondike Valpaint decorative paint in a 1 l or 2.5 l tin, without primer, creates a rust effect on your wall - one litre applied with a brush covers 4-6 m².
The smaller tin is good for a colour test and a small wall, the larger one for a few more square metres. Under Klondike you need Primer 900, which you buy separately, and the calculator on this page will match the tin sizes to your wall area.

The video shows two methods of applying Klondike Valpaint paint step by step - from the primer to the finished rust effect on the wall.
Before you choose a tin size, decide what you will apply the paint with - a brush uses less than a trowel, with which you apply one or two coats. The video above shows both methods.
Rust shades look different on screen than on a wall. Borrow the Klondike sample catalogue or order a 1 l tin and check the colour at home before you buy paint for the whole area.

What is Klondike paint and what can you apply it to?
Klondike is an interior Valpaint decorative paint that recreates the look of rust and corroded steel. On its own it gives a matt finish, and the paid metallic additives Gold G100 and Silver G200 add a golden or silver metallic sheen.
This offer is the paint alone, in a 1 l or 2.5 l tin. You apply it over Primer 900, and once dry you get a washable, heat resistant finish that you can use on a wall, a fireplace, furniture, joinery or metal.

What can you use Klondike paint for?

Frequently asked questions
Which tin should I choose - 1 l or 2.5 l?
With a brush a 1 l tin covers 4-6 m² and a 2.5 l tin 10-15 m². For a 12 m² wall painted with a brush you need 2 to 3 l of paint, so if coverage is on the lower side, take a 2.5 l tin and a 1 l tin. The calculator on this page will match the exact tin sizes.
How much paint will I use with a trowel?
With a trowel one litre covers 4-6 m² per coat. You apply one or two coats, so with two coats one litre is enough for 2-3 m² and a 2.5 l tin for 5-7.5 m².
Is primer included in the tin?
No, you are buying the decorative paint only. Under Klondike we use Primer 900, which you can buy separately - in the set there is 0.5 l of primer per 1 l of paint. You can also choose the set, which already includes primer.
When can I apply the second coat?
At 20 °C the surface dries after 2 hours, the second coat goes on after 5-6 hours, and the paint is fully dry after 24 hours.
Does Klondike paint need varnishing?
Indoors no varnish is needed. Some customers cover the surface with Top Coat varnish for extra protection, but that is their choice, not a requirement.
Is Klondike suitable for facades?
No - the manufacturer intends it for interiors. Some people have painted an outdoor area under a roof with it and protected it with Top Coat varnish, but that is an exception, not a manufacturer recommendation.
How do I get a golden or silver sheen?
Choose a colour with Gold G100 for a golden sheen or Silver G200 for a silver one. The additives are paid, and you see the surcharge when choosing the colour. Without them Klondike stays matt.
Can I return the paint if I do not like the colour?
No, because we tint every tin specifically to your order. That is why, before buying, you should borrow the Klondike sample catalogue or order a 1 l tin and check the colour on your own wall.
