Mavericks decorative paint 2x0.5l
Mavericks is a structural decorative paint with a glossy and three-dimensional effect.
Description
Mavericks decorative paint 2x0.5 l is two tins of paint with an opalescent metallic sheen, in two shades of your chosen colour, covering 9-10 m² per litre - without the Nautilus base paint. The metallic additives are already in the tins, and we tint the colour to the number you choose from the Mavericks sample book.
This offer lets you top up the decorative paint alone if you run out mid-job. The sea wave effect only appears on tinted Nautilus base paint, so if you are starting a wall from scratch, choose the set with base paint. The calculator on this page will work out how much paint you need.

What you will see in the video (11:22)
The manufacturer Valpaint shows, step by step, how Mavericks decorative paint is applied to create a sea wave effect on the wall. The video has no voice-over or subtitles - music plays in the background and every movement of the tool is visible on screen. For more on the effect, read our guide Interiors with depth: creating a sea wave effect with Mavericks Valpaint.
When you top up paint for a wall you have already started, order the same colour number as in your previous order. If you are still choosing the colour, remember that an opalescent metallic sheen looks different on the wall than on screen, so it is worth borrowing the Mavericks sample book with real samples. If in doubt, get in touch and we will help you choose the colour and quantity.

What is Mavericks Valpaint paint?
Mavericks Valpaint is a water-based interior decorative paint with a luminescent finish and three-dimensional colour, whose fine crystal particles settle on the wall into a sea wave effect. We sell it in two 0.5 l tins because the effect is built from two shades applied alternately.
The paint does not work on its own: the tinted Nautilus base paint shows through Mavericks and forms the background of the finish, while the metallic additives create the opalescent sheen. The additives are already in the tins; you buy the base paint separately.
Mavericks paint 2x0.5 l in figures and benefits
| Feature | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Opalescent metallic sheen | The metallic additives are already in the paint, so you do not order or mix anything yourself. |
| Two shades in separate tins | You apply the shades alternately, and the duo brush picks up both at once. |
| Coverage 9-10 m² per litre | The two tins hold 1 l of paint in total, enough for 9-10 m² of wall. |
| Tinted to a sample book number | When topping up, you give the same colour number you are painting the wall in. |
| Ready to use | Open the tin and paint - you do not thin it with water. |
| Base paint not included | You buy Nautilus separately, tinted to your chosen Mavericks colour - without it the wave effect will not appear. |
How to apply Mavericks paint
- Start with Nautilus base paint tinted to your colour and wait 8 h at 20°C before reaching for Mavericks.
- Load the paint onto the duo brush, which carries both shades at the same time.
- Lay Mavericks on with the cross method: alternately, with strokes up to 15 cm, in all directions.
- Move in small sections of 1 to 2 m² at a time, taking a small amount of paint - the point is to spread the crystals into waves.
- The paint is dry to the touch after 1 h and reaches full hardness throughout after 24 h.
An experienced decorator can also manage with two standard decorative brushes, using a separate brush for each shade. If you are painting effects for the first time, stick with the duo brush.
When to choose Mavericks paint on its own
- You ran out of paint mid-job - you buy only Mavericks, without paying for base paint a second time.
- The wall already has tinted Nautilus - all you need is the decorative paint to finish the effect.
- A new wall from scratch - here the set, which includes Nautilus base paint, is the better choice.
- Living room, dining room, bedroom, child's room - the interiors where Mavericks most often goes on the walls.
You will find other effect paints in the Decorative paints category.
You will find Nautilus base paint in the related products below, and the ready-made set and duo brush in the tiles at the top of the page.
Questions about Mavericks paint 2x0.5 l
How many m² does Mavericks paint 2x0.5 l cover?
The paint covers 9-10 m² per litre. The offer includes two 0.5 l tins, 1 l in total, so you will paint 9-10 m² with them. The calculator on this page will work out the exact amount for your wall.
Will Mavericks paint work without Nautilus base paint?
No. Tinted Nautilus base paint shows through Mavericks and forms the background of the finish, so without it the sea wave effect will not appear. This offer does not include base paint - you buy it separately or choose the set, which already contains it.
When should I buy the paint alone and when the Mavericks set?
Buy the paint alone if you ran out mid-job or already have a wall with tinted base paint. When starting from scratch, choose the set - it contains Nautilus base paint, two tins of Mavericks and the metallic additive, matched to one colour.
How much Mavericks should I top up if I ran out on the wall?
Measure the area still to be painted and allow 9-10 m² per litre. One offer is 1 l in two tins. When ordering, give the same colour number you are painting the wall in.
Why does Mavericks come in two tins in different shades?
The wave effect is built from two shades applied alternately, so each comes in a separate tin. The duo brush picks up both at once, and the crystals spread with the cross method settle into waves.
Can I paint a wall with Mavericks without experience?
Yes, with the duo brush the application does not require special skills. I recommend two standard decorative brushes only to people practised in decorative effects. Before you start, watch the manufacturer's video on this page - it shows every movement of the tool.
How long does Mavericks paint take to dry?
It is surface dry after 1 h and fully cured through after 24 h. Also remember the Nautilus base paint: after applying it, wait 8 h at 20°C before laying on Mavericks.
Which rooms is Mavericks paint suitable for?
It is a water-based interior decorative paint. It is most often used on walls in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and children's rooms, and the sample book palette lets you match the colour to the style of the interior.
Can I return Mavericks paint?
No, because we tint it to the colour number in your order. If you are unsure about the colour, borrow the Mavericks sample book first: you send it back undamaged within 30 days and we refund its cost within 7 days, excluding delivery costs.
We tint the paint to your colour number. Goods mixed in the tinting machine to the customer's order cannot be returned under Polish consumer law (art. 38.1.3 of the Consumer Rights Act). Before you buy, compare the colour in the Mavericks sample book, and when topping up, check the number from your previous order.
The colours in the sample book photos are for illustration and may differ slightly from the real ones, depending on monitor and graphics card settings.
