The Klondike Valpaint set contains 1 l of rust effect decorative paint and 0.5 l of Primer 900 - a complete kit for 4-6 m² of wall when applied with a brush.
Without additives Klondike has a matt finish, and the paid metallic additives give it a sheen: Gold G100 a golden one, Silver G200 a silver one. The video shows two ways of applying Klondike, which differ in the tool: a brush or a trowel. Your choice of tool also affects consumption, because with a brush one set covers 4-6 m², while with a trowel it covers 4-6 m² per coat.
Rust shades differ from each other subtly, and a monitor can distort them. Before you order, borrow the Klondike sample catalogue and see the colours live, in your own light.

What is Klondike Valpaint decorative paint?
Klondike is a Valpaint decorative paint for interiors that imitates the look of rust and corroded steel. Without additives it gives a matt finish, and the paid metallic additives Gold G100 and Silver G200 give it a golden or silver metallic sheen.
The set includes the paint together with Primer 900, so you do not have to choose a primer separately. The finished coating is washable and resistant to high temperatures, and you can apply the paint not only to walls but also to joinery, furniture and metal elements.

Where does the Klondike rust effect work best?
- Wall behind a fireplace or heated wall - resistance to high temperatures lets you paint an area that gets very warm.
- Loft or industrial style living room and bedroom - one wall with a corroded steel effect gives character to the whole interior.
- Restaurants, venues and offices - the washable finish copes well with intensive use.
- Furniture, doors and metal elements - the same rust effect on a cabinet, a door and a wall gives a consistent interior.

How many m² does a Klondike set cover?
It depends on the tool. With a brush the set covers 4-6 m². With a trowel it covers 4-6 m² per coat, so with two coats it is enough for 2-3 m². The calculator on this page will give you the exact number of sets.
What is the difference between the two application methods in the video?
The tool: you apply Klondike with a brush or a trowel. Both methods start with Primer 900 applied with a roller. With a trowel you apply one or two coats, which increases paint consumption, so choose your method before you order.
How long does Klondike take to dry?
At 20 °C the surface is dry after 2 hours, the second coat goes on after 5-6 hours, and final drying takes 24 hours.
Does Klondike need to be protected with varnish?
Indoors no varnish is needed. If you want extra protection for the surface, you can use Top Coat varnish - some of our customers do.
Can I use Klondike outdoors?
The manufacturer intends Klondike for interiors. There have been outdoor applications under a roof, protected with Top Coat varnish, but this is a curiosity rather than a manufacturer recommendation - for a facade, choose a product designed for exterior use.
What is the difference between the Gold G100 and Silver G200 additives?
Without additives Klondike is matt. Gold G100 gives it a golden and Silver G200 a silver metallic sheen. The additives are paid, and you see the surcharge straight away when choosing the colour.
What tools do I need to buy?
Tools are not included in the set. For the primer you need a paint roller, and for Klondike a decorative brush or a Venetian trowel, depending on the method you choose.
How do I choose a colour and can I return the set?
The palette is on this page, but rust shades are best judged on the Klondike sample catalogue, which you can borrow. We tint the paint to your order, so we cannot take back a set in the colour you chose.
