BOLIX Ribbed Effect Panels are innovative decorative panels designed to create a corduroy / ribbed texture effect on façades and interior walls. Their three-dimensional structure gives surfaces a modern, distinctive character and provides an alternative to traditional plaster finishes in ETICS insulation systems as well as on non-insulated substrates.

The product combines high aesthetic value with durability and mechanical resistance, making it a functional finishing solution for both new constructions and renovated buildings.

Intended use of the panels:

The panels are designed to create a decorative corduroy / ribbed effect on:

• external walls of new and modernized buildings,
• interior surfaces as a distinctive decorative feature.

Panels can be installed on:

• reinforced layers of ETICS insulation systems with EPS or mineral wool,
• mineral substrates (concrete, cement and cement-lime plasters),
• cement-fibre and cement-chip boards,
• gypsum plasterboards,
• gypsum plasters.

Substrate preparation

The substrate must be:

• load-bearing, even, dry and clean,
• free from grease, dust, loose particles, efflorescence, algae and other anti-adhesive substances,
• free from weak or detached layers – these must be removed,
• primed with a suitable primer.

Panel preparation:

• The product is ready for use.
• Before installation, it is recommended to plan the panel layout to minimize waste.
• Panels should be cut using an angle grinder or a mitre saw with a diamond blade.
• Smooth cut edges with sandpaper.

Application method for Ribbed Effect Panels:

Bonding the panels

• Use BOLIX KD PANEL adhesive (approx. consumption: 2.8 kg/m²).
• Apply the adhesive with a 6×6 mm notched trowel, spreading it perpendicular to the panel layout.

Install the panels vertically, maintaining:

• an initial gap of approx. 5 mm from the adjacent panel,
• a final joint width of up to 2 mm or butt-joint installation.
• All joints must be completely filled with adhesive to prevent water penetration behind the panels.

Pressing

• Press the panels manually and with a wallpaper roller to eliminate voids beneath the surface.

Installation time

• The panels must be bonded no later than 10 minutes after adhesive application.

Painting the panels

• After 3 days from installation (and no later than 1 month), the surface must be painted with BOLIX SIL paint.

Paint application method:

• apply at least 2 coats,
• dilute the first coat with water (10%),
• use a brush only, working the paint into the grooves of the structure,
• apply subsequent coats after a minimum of 12 hours.
• Do not apply paint using rollers, wide brushes, or on damp or overgrown surfaces.

Execution guidelines

• The substrate must be perfectly even and properly cured:

  cement / cement-lime plasters: minimum 3–4 weeks,

  gypsum plasters: minimum 2 weeks.

• Do not install panels on horizontal or sloped surfaces or areas exposed to constant water or standing snow.
• Protect the surface from sunlight, rain, moisture condensation, and wind.
• Do not use dark colours (HBW < 30) on heavily sun-exposed façades unless paints with “cool pigments” are used.
• Excessively thick paint layers or too rapid drying may result in coating cracks.
• Panel installation must always be included in the building’s design documentation.
