Rust effect Klondike Corten Valpaint - set
Klondike Corten Valpaint decorative paint is a decorative plaster that imitates the effect of Corten steel. This product is intended for both internal and external use.
Description
The Klondike Corten set is a complete material package for 5-6 m² of wall or facade in a rust effect: 2.5 litres of Klondike Corten decorative paint and 1 litre of Primer 1200.
We tint the colour to your individual order from the Valpaint sample board, so you choose the shade once and for good. If your surface is larger than one set, measure it with the calculator on this page - it will tell you how many sets you need.

What you will see in the video (1:49)
The video shows, step by step, three methods of applying Klondike Corten decorative paint by Valpaint. Every stage comes with a commentary.
You can work out exactly how much material you need with the calculator on this page - one set covers 5-6 m², and for a larger wall we will gladly calculate the full package for you.
Before you settle on a shade, I recommend borrowing the Klondike Corten sample board and looking at the colour in the light of your own room, or on the facade at different times of day. A colour on screen is not a colour on the wall, and we tint the paint to order.
What is Klondike Corten decorative paint?
Klondike Corten Valpaint is a single-component decorative paint that recreates the look of rusted corten steel on walls and facades. You apply the first coat with a brush and smooth it with a Venetian trowel, then lay the second coat with the trowel alone. The product is ready to use - all it needs is stirring before work. Once cured, the surface resists water absorption and is easy to wipe clean, and indoors it is completely safe for the surroundings.
What you get in the set
| Feature | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| 2.5 l of Klondike Corten and 1 l of Primer 1200 for 5-6 m² | For one wall in a room or a section of facade you have the complete material and do not have to assemble the products separately. |
| Primer 1200 with a coverage of 8-10 m² per litre | There is enough primer for the whole area of the set with a margin, so the base coat will not run out halfway across the wall. |
| Drying time of 3-6 hours | You apply the next coat the same day or the day after - a single wall does not block your whole week. |
| Resistance from -40°C to +50°C once dry | You can cover a facade, a wall by the terrace or a sun-exposed surface without worrying about frost or heat. |
| Coating resistant to water absorption and easy to wash | You simply wipe off dust and dirt, and moisture does not soak into the decoration. |
| Single-component mass, ready to use | You do not mix components and you do not work against an open time - stirring the contents of the bucket is enough. |
Where the Klondike Corten rust effect works best
You can apply Klondike Corten both inside and outside a building, because once dry it withstands temperatures from -40°C to +50°C. Most often it ends up in places like these:
- facades and external walls that you want to give a modern, industrial character;
- homes and commercial interiors - indoors the product is completely safe for the surroundings;
- feature walls, where a single rusted surface carries the whole interior;
- surfaces with a dripped effect, which you achieve with a brush and a trowel.
You will find the remaining effects from this family in the Decorative effects for the wall category.
The technical data sheet and the application instructions are in the downloadable files at the bottom of this page.
If you already have the primer, or you are topping up material for a job in progress, you will find the paint on its own and the refills for this set in Related products below.
Frequently asked questions about the Klondike Corten set
How many square metres does one set cover?
One set, that is 2.5 litres of Klondike Corten and 1 litre of Primer 1200, covers 5-6 m². For a larger wall, measure the area with the calculator on this page or send us the dimensions and we will work out the full package.
Is 1 litre of Primer 1200 enough for the whole surface?
Yes, with a margin. Primer 1200 covers 8-10 m² per litre and the set is calculated for 5-6 m², so the primer will not run out halfway across the wall.
How much does the material cost per square metre?
The material from this set works out at 99-110 PLN per m², depending on the colour you choose and on how the set divides across your surface. Tools come on top of that, if you do not have them yet.
How long do you wait between coats?
The drying time is 3-6 hours. In good conditions you will lay both coats of Klondike Corten in one day; in cooler or damp weather it is better to plan the second coat for the next day.
Can I do it myself, without a professional?
Klondike Corten is a single-component mass that only needs stirring before use, so the application is straightforward. Before you start, watch the video above - it shows three methods of application step by step, and the method you choose decides the final pattern of the rust.
What else do I need besides the set?
Primer 1200 goes on with a paint roller, and Klondike Corten needs a wallpaper brush and a Venetian trowel. The tools are not included in the set, but you will find them in our shop.
Can I use Klondike Corten on a facade?
Yes, this product is intended for both interior and exterior use. Once dry it withstands temperatures from -40°C to +50°C and the resulting coating resists water absorption, which is why it copes well with facade conditions.
How do I choose the colour, and can I return the set?
You choose the colour from the Klondike Corten sample board, and you can borrow that sample board from us to see the shade in your own light. We tint the paint to individual order, so colours prepared to order are not returnable - which is exactly why it is worth seeing the sample board before you decide.
We tint the paint to your individual order, so colours prepared to order are not returnable. Before you place the order, calculate the quantity, watch the video and check the shade on the sample board - in practice those three steps remove the risk of a mistake.
Sample board photographs are for illustration only and may differ slightly from the real colours, which is affected by monitor and graphics card settings.
