The Setavel set is a complete silk-effect kit for 8-10 m² of wall: 1 l of Primer 1200 and 2 l of Setavel decorative paint, which gives a matt finish that is soft to the touch.

What is the Setavel silk effect?
Setavel is a water-based Valpaint decorative paint for interiors that gives a matt finish with a silk effect - the surface is soft to the touch, and the delicate, refined movement of the texture brings a subtle, modern elegance to the room. Once fully cured, it forms a vapour-permeable coating with good resistance to normal wear.
In this set you get it together with Primer 1200, which prepares the wall before the first coat of paint. You work in two coats with a Venetian trowel, and you can see the whole cycle in the video above.

How the Setavel silk effect is applied
- Prepare the substrate. The wall must be stable and clean, free of dust, wax, grease, silicone, soap and anything else that weakens adhesion. Remove loose or flaking old paint, wash the surface with a suitable cleaner and carry out any plaster repairs before priming.
- Apply Primer 1200 with a roller, brush or sprayer and wait 6 hours at 20°C. You can dilute the primer with water if that makes it easier to spread - it is an option for comfortable application, not a required step.
- Apply the first coat of Setavel with a stainless steel Venetian trowel, using strokes of varying length in all directions.
- After 3-4 hours, apply the second coat irregularly, in the characteristic leopard spots. After covering about 1 m², fill the gaps with short, overlapping and crisscrossing trowel movements - these are what build the silky movement of the surface.

How many square metres does the Setavel set cover?
The set covers 8-10 m² of wall. It contains 1 l of Primer 1200, which gives 10 m² per litre with one coat, and 2 l of Setavel paint with a coverage of 4-5 m² per litre with two coats. You can work out the exact quantity for your area with the calculator on the product page.
How much Setavel paint do I need per m²?
One litre of Setavel covers 4-5 m² with two coats, so 2 litres are enough for 8-10 m² of wall. For a larger area, work out the quantity with the calculator - you can buy the paint separately in 1 l, 2.5 l and 5 l tins.
Can I apply the silk effect myself?
Setavel is an easy-to-apply finishing coating - you lay it with a Venetian trowel in two coats: the first with strokes of varying length in all directions, the second irregularly, in leopard spots. Before you start, watch the tutorial video on the product page, because the trowel movement is easier to see than to describe.
What is the leopard spot technique?
It is the way the second coat of Setavel is laid: you apply the paint in irregular spots, and after covering about 1 m² you fill the gaps with short, overlapping and crisscrossing trowel movements. These movements are what build the silky movement of the surface - we show them in the tutorial video.
How long does Setavel take to dry?
After applying Primer 1200, wait 6 hours at 20°C. Allow 3-4 hours between coats of Setavel; it is fully dry after 24 hours and reaches full surface hardness after 15 days at 20°C. At lower temperatures these times get longer.
Can a silk-effect wall be washed?
15 days after application the coating is moderately washable - clean it gently with a soft, slightly damp sponge to avoid streaks and discolouration. Do not wash the wall at all before it has fully cured.
Do the paint or the primer need diluting?
Setavel paint is ready to use and is not diluted. You can dilute Primer 1200 with water if that makes it easier to spread - it is an option for comfortable application, not a required step.
Which rooms is Setavel suitable for?
Setavel is a product for interior use. It works best in bedrooms, living rooms and studies, where you want matt, quiet elegance instead of gloss.
How do I choose the colour, and can I return the paint?
We tint the paint to individual order according to the Valpaint sample book, so products from the tinting machine cannot be returned. Before you choose a shade, borrow the Setavel sample book with real colours and the real texture, because a colour on screen is not the colour on your wall.
