1. What Valpaint is and when it's worth reaching for
Valpaint is an Italian brand with over 40 years of experience making premium decorative paints and plasters. You'll find Valpaint products in hotels, apartments and commercial spaces across Europe - they create effects you simply can't achieve with ordinary paint. Japan and Dubai love Valpaint products too.
I'm talking about specific visual effects: the texture of rust and patinating metal, the deep dynamics of water, microcement for floors and walls, an ultra-matte concrete effect that shifts shade with the light, Venetian stucco with a mirror finish. These aren't just nice colors - they are three-dimensional effects that change the character of an entire room.
When Valpaint is not the right choice: when the wall is uneven and unplastered, when the budget is tight, or when you expect an effect with no substrate preparation. Valpaint is a premium product that interior designers love - it needs proper substrate preparation and the right person to apply it. Fortunately, in Poland we have very ambitious investors who can watch a few videos and produce a professional effect on their own wall. The only thing they lack is the know-how and the proven practices of professionals - and that's where I come in to help.
And what I love most about decorative finishes is that the effect and application method recommended by the manufacturer are only one of many options - here, only your imagination sets the limit.
2. Overview of 17 Valpaint products - effects in brief
I rate application difficulty on a 1-5 scale, where 1 = anyone can do it without experience, 5 = work for masters only.
Klondike
Rust and corrosion - basic versionThe basic version of the corrosion and patina effect in a rich color palette. The entry point to the Klondike family - warm, organic tones. Easy to apply, it gives walls and façades a one-of-a-kind industrial character.
Klondike Corten
Rust and patinating metalA realistic oxidized-metal effect - rust, patina and corten steel. Warm shades of brown, copper and rusty orange. Ideal for lofts, industrial and rustic styles.
Klondike Light
Gentle corrosion and warm tonesA milder version of the corrosion effect with a rich palette of warm color compositions. Less intense than Corten - great where you want an industrial vibe without a dominant rust effect.
Mavericks
Depth and dynamicsAn effect of depth and movement - like looking through water or into veined stone. Artistic, every execution unique. Surprisingly easy to apply for such a striking look.
Sabulador Lux
Metallic sand - matte with highlightsA warm, organic sand effect with luminescent metal highlights. A matte finish with deep glow - like sandstone or a dune in daylight. Organic, mineral character. Suits minimalism, zen and boho styles.
Sabulador Soft
Metallic sand - opalescent semi-glossA metallic-sand effect with an opalescent semi-gloss - it shimmers like silk and changes appearance with the angle of light. More elegant and evening-like than Lux. Several application techniques: Brushstroke, Streaked and marbled effects.
Juta
Jute fabric weaveA satin-matte jute-fabric weave effect on the wall. Organic, natural character - ideal for boho, japandi and interiors with natural materials. Requires the patented PV141/PV142 roller - without it the effect won't form.
Arteco 7
Venetian clay - 6 effectsA decorative paint inspired by Venetian clay offering up to 6 different surface effects. Warm, natural earth tones. Organic character, great for rustic and Mediterranean interiors.
Armonie d'Argilla
Natural clay - organic effectA decorative plaster based on natural argilla (clay). A deep, organic, nature-inspired effect - warm, earthy tones. Excellent for eco interiors, biophilic design and wellness spaces.
Valrenna 2

Silky sheen and color depthA decorative coating with a subtle, silky sheen and pronounced color depth. Elegant and discreet - it gives the wall character without overdoing it. A good choice for modern and classic interiors.
Valsetin
Ultra-matte Lime effectA decoration in the spirit of traditional lime - a deep, ultra-matte surface with no sheen at all. Cozy, organic and timeless. On trend in wabi-sabi, Scandinavian and Mediterranean styles.
Meteor 10
Architectural concrete effectThe basic decorative concrete effect - a modern, urban character. In the base version it's easy for anyone. Advanced techniques: mandalas, gold veining, multi-color compositions - work for a professional.
Meteor 8
Decorative texture with depthA decorative texture effect with pronounced three-dimensionality and color depth. Relatively easy - I recommend watching a tutorial video before your first attempt. For skilled amateurs and professionals.
Polistof
Glitter and intense sheenA shimmering glitter with a metallic reflection - an expressive, glamorous effect. It requires skill with the trowel, because the application technique directly affects the final aesthetic. Striking on an accent wall.
Microcement (Meteor 14 / I-Beton)
Ultra-durable decorative concreteA fine-grained microcement - an ultra-durable smooth concrete effect for walls, floors and bathrooms. Can be applied over ceramic tiles without removal. Very on trend, it requires an experienced professional and the largest number of processes. More detail in the article on the I-Beton system.
e-volution PLUS (Meteor 12)
Decorative microcement - marble, concrete, special effectsAn advanced microcement system based on Meteore 12. Unlike I-Beton it offers a wider range of decorative effects: veined marble, smooth concrete and special effects. A two-component finishing resin gives a walkable, waterproof surface - suitable for showers and saunas. Over tiles without removal.
Rococo (Venetian stucco)
Venetian stucco - marble and mirrorClassic Venetian stucco - an imitation of marble, onyx and polished stone. Very hard to apply. Advanced techniques such as marbling and the mirror effect are work for masters with many years of experience only.

6. Substrate preparation - the key to success
This is the most often skipped step and the most common reason for a failed final effect. I say this from experience: customers call to say they can't get the effect, and after a chat it turns out they didn't prepare the wall.
A few specific situations:
- Old latex or acrylic paint - you can apply over it if it's stable, non-dusting, grease-free and well adhered to the wall. In practice you can start right away.
- A wall after skim coat - the ideal substrate for thin-layer products like Valsetin or Mavericks. The skim coat must be dry and well primed.
- Plasterboard (drywall) - a great substrate; remember to fill the board joints and screw heads. Before work it must be primed with an ordinary primer (milk-type).
- Floor under Microcement - ceramic tiles can stay, but they must be stable. Loose tiles, scratches between joints and gaps in the covering must be repaired before application.
Detailed substrate requirements for each product are in the technical data sheet available on the product page in our store.
7. Samples, sample boards and TDS sheets
Before you order full buckets, do two things - especially if this is your first time with Valpaint:
Step 1 - when the decorative technique is advanced, download the technical data sheet. Each product page has a button to download the PDF. The sheet includes substrate requirements, a tools list, the number of coats, drying times and coverage per m². For designers - all the data for a cost estimate is here. You can also calculate the average material cost for your wall area. There's a calculator on every product page.
Step 2 - order a sample or borrow a sample board. In our store we have wet samples (small amounts for practicing the technique) and sample boards to borrow (you return them and we refund you). Apply the sample to a piece of plasterboard and judge the effect in your own lighting - both daytime and evening. Valpaint decorative products look completely different under different light.
