What is the Setavel silk effect?
Setavel is a water-based decorative paint for interiors with a matte, silk-effect finish — the surface is soft to the touch, and the delicate movement of its texture gives rooms a subdued, modern elegance. Once fully cured, the coating is vapour-permeable and withstands normal wear well, so the wall stays elegant in everyday use.

How the Setavel silk effect is applied
- Prepare the substrate. The wall must be stable and clean — remove dust, wax, grease, silicone, soap and anything that could weaken adhesion. Remove old paint if it is loose or flaking, wash the surface with a suitable cleaner, and make any plaster repairs before priming.
- Apply Primer 1200 with a roller, brush or spray, and wait 6 hours at 20°C.
- First coat of Setavel — with the PV 43 stainless-steel trowel, in strokes of varying length in all directions.
- After 3–4 hours, the second coat — applied irregularly, in the characteristic "leopard spots". After covering about 1 m², fill the gaps with short, overlapping and crossing trowel strokes — they are what builds the silky movement of the surface.

Bedrooms, living rooms and studies — wherever a subdued elegance and a soft, matte depth should do the work instead of gloss. How much wall does this set cover?
The set is composed for 10 m²: it contains 1 litre of the Primer 1200 base coat (coverage 10 m²/l at one coat) and 2 litres of the Setavel decorative paint (coverage 4–5 m²/l at two coats). The exact consumption for your wall area can be calculated with the calculator on this page.
Can I apply Setavel myself?
Setavel is an easy-to-apply decorative finishing coat — it goes on with a venetian trowel in two coats: the first in strokes in varying directions, the second in irregular "leopard spots" filled in with crossing strokes. The steps and drying times are in the instructions above.
How long does Setavel dry?
Wait 3–4 hours at 20°C between coats. Full drying takes 24 hours, and full surface curing — 15 days at 20°C. At lower temperatures the times get longer.
Can a silk-effect wall be washed?
From 15 days after application the coating is moderately washable — clean it gently with a soft, slightly damp sponge to avoid streaks or discolouration. Before full curing, do not wash the wall at all.
Does Setavel need diluting or a primer?
The paint is ready to use — no diluting. Priming, however, is part of the system: the Primer 1200 base coat is included in the set and is applied before the first coat of Setavel.
How does tinting work and can I return the product?
The paint is tinted to your individual order according to the Valpaint colour card. Products from the mixing machine cannot be returned — so before buying, use our sample-board lending service: a colour on a screen is not the colour on a wall, and we ship a catalogue with real structures and colours to view at home.
